SYMPOSIUM HISTORY & ORGANIZERS
Symposium history. Professor Sorin E. Leucuța PhD, founder of the biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics research field in Romania, initiated and organized the first National Symposium of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, on behalf of the Romanian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences, on June 4, 1982. Being a visionary leader, the professor understood at that time the development potential of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics field, and wished to facilitate, through this Symposium, the experience exchange between the scientists in the field and the development of new research topics. The first 3 editions were held every 3 years, in Cluj-Napoca. From 1990, the Symposium was organized as a Satellite of the National Pharmacy Congress in Romania. Besides his interest for Biopharmacy and Pharmacokinetics, Professor Leucuța was also interested in another emerging domain, the Industrial Pharmaceutical Technology. Thus, in 1990, he founded the first Industrial Pharmaceutical Technology Discipline in Romania, and, over the years, he conducted an intensive research in this field. His activity has resulted in the publication of a large number of scientific papers, the coordination of several doctoral theses and the organization of a Master’s Degree Program.
